I left my canon xti, with a 50mm f/1.8 lens, on the counter today at work. I'm not sure who took any of these photos, but if i had to guess I would say Will did. It's funny how serious we each look.... after all its a surf shop and we spent most of the day watching surf movies.

just point and shoot

I used my "7 megapixel" PowerShot SD550 yesterday while trying to get some wave shots. I took my dog down to the beach and didn't feel like carrying the legit gear, so I brought the trusty powershot. It's a Canon so it obviously takes quality pictures. I was standing in waist deep water trying my hardest not to get the damn thing wet. It was really, really high tide and I almost lost my ipod on the beach to a rogue set. The exposures were pretty difficult to control, so the pics turned out a little funky.

Random Fact of the Day
I took some photos today, BUT i didn't put them on my computer because I watched South Park instead. SO, here is a nice random tid bit of information. And yes it's true.
Over 10 million people around the world drink their urine for it's supposed health benefits.

Some Motion Blurs

Not substantially new, but I want to post something I've been messing around with. These were each shot with a shutter speed of 1/8th of a second. I used a longer lens and a panning technique as each photo was exposed. The nice colors of the sunset and the little waves in the foreground did the rest of the work.

Angel Flight
Kind of a random post, but I think this is worth telling as many people as possible. So if you happen to read this and know someone who is in need of some help than check out this website.

About Angel Flight
A small child, ravaged by cancer, needs specialized lifesaving treatment at a hospital 300 miles away. A father, separated from his family by a hurricane, wants desperately to be reunited. A domestic-violence survivor longs to start a new life in another city, but cannot afford to leave. These are just a few of the people to whom we offer help and hope.

6 Things I Learned in Arizona
I recently returned from a solo trip around Arizona and Southern Utah. I took a ton a photos and learned a lot in the process. I thought it was worth noting a few of these important new bits of knowledge.
1) 90 degrees is HOT and 114 degrees is unbearable.
2) Freeze water bottles before a camping trip. They will provide you with cold water and ice for days.
3) Hybrids are the future. Look into them.
4) 20 mph over the speed limit in Arizona is a criminal offense. (Leaned this one the hard way)
5) Water is more valuable than money in Arizona.
6) Live and Learn. If you find yourself in the wrong spot, say for a sunrise, then spend some time searching for a better spot and show up the next morning a little earlier.
